Artist Statement

I work from my own drawings and photographs.  I like to work big. My paintings and drawings are abstract close-ups of the world I see. I love the creative process. For me, it’s one of discovery; I lose all sense of time. I love texture; getting my hands dirty; letting go. Acrylics offer the freedom to explore.

Lots of texture and colour give the work life and interest. I use my hands. And any tool that makes an interesting mark.

The themes of my paintings include honesty, family, beauty and freedom. But they also include loneliness and sadness.

I continue to explore.
